Curro New Road builds learners’ confidence through awards recognition

The Curro New Road awards ceremony continues to grow each year, reflecting the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded learners.

Curro New Road held its annual academic awards ceremony on February 6, celebrating learners who achieved exceptional academic results during 2025.

The ceremony continues to expand year after year, acknowledging the hard work and determination of the learners. In her keynote address, executive head of the school Nosipho Sishuba highlighted the resilience of the learners.

“Many of our learners have faced real challenges in their careers. Some have lost parents, some have lost family members, friends, and some have had to grow up far too quickly.

Others have had to navigate issues with identity, self-worth, and peer pressure, and the complex emotions that come with being a young person in today’s world.

“High school is not just about academics; it is also about learning who we are and where we belong. This is why tonight matters. We are saying to our learners: ‘We see your effort. Even when life is hard’. We are saying your resilience counts. We are saying you are more than just your circumstances.

“To every learner receiving an award tonight, well done. You’ve earned it.

To those not walking across the stage this evening, please, hear me: ‘You can. Your journey is not over, and growth is not always loud and visible. It is still moving. Keep going, your time will come’.”
