Charmaine’s successful journey began last year, following her dedicated work on the catwalk for several years preceding that moment. Her first modelling accolade marked a significant milestone in her career and fueled her passion for the craft.
Originally from Kotwa, Zimbabwe, she spent her formative years in Harare until her family moved to South Africa, where her dreams began to materialise. Despite struggling with self-confidence, she discovered her identity and potential through modelling.
Reflecting on her early aspirations, Charmaine said, “When we moved to South Africa when I was about five, I told my mother I wanted to be a model and be famous. It began as a light-hearted joke.”
But this ambition grew more serious as she matured. By the time she turned 10, Charmaine officially started her modelling career but faced numerous challenges, particularly a lack of parental support.

“At certain points, I started to lose hope in myself because I felt like there was no one in my corner to help me out,” she added. “It was not until 16 that I told my mother that I was serious about pursuing modelling and that it was truly what I wanted to do with my life. That was a turning point as it was then that she started to support me and believe in my dreams.”
With her parents’ newfound support, Charmaine’s confidence soared, leading her to enter more competitions. Her first official competition, Mr and Miss Moribo Pictures 2023, was tough and despite not winning she remained positive, viewing it as a growth experience.
Her second competition, the Face of Rabie Ridge 2023, was a breakthrough. “I went determined to do my best, and even though it was challenging, I won the title of Face of Rabie Ridge 2023 Teen second princess. I felt overwhelming joy when they called my name, and tears streamed down my face.”
Continuing her success, Charmaine’s third competition was Miss Star Face of Tembisa and she won Best Ticket Sales, and the Face of Bianca 2024 Teen second princess.
As she prepares for the Face of Devotion South Africa Finals on December 14 at Meropa Casino in Polokwane, she remains focused on achieving the title.
