City of Joburg unfinished business of damaged Rabie Ridge Stadium wall
It has been over two years and despite the city’s assurance to repair the wall it remains in ruins.
Over two years have passed since the wall of the Rabie Ridge stadium was damaged, and despite assurances from the City of Joburg, it remains unrepaired.
Residents have previously expressed concerns that the fallen wall has made the stadium more vulnerable to criminal activity, posing risks to those who use the facility for training and events.
Earlier this year, Pierre Nel, assistant director for the City of Johannesburg Citizen Relationship and Urban Management Region A, confirmed that the city was aware of the issue and was working towards repairing it, but he did not provide a timeline.

The lack of a clear plan has frustrated those who rely on the stadium for their activities. In June this year when the paper inquired about the repairs, the city requested more time to address the ongoing concerns.
However, as weeks turned into months, there was no response despite several follow-ups. On November 11, the paper again asked the city why the wall remained unfixed and whether repairs were still planned.
Nel stated he had escalated the questions but despite several follow-ups, no answers or timelines were provided once again.
