Baobulb Drama Academy is excited to announce its 2025 after-schools speech and drama programme in Midrand.

The academy invites aspiring actors of all ages to audition on March 17 at Halfway House Montessori, 17 Fred Verseput Avenue, Halfway House Gardens, from 14:00 to 17:00.

Classes are led by the academy’s dedicated drama teacher, Brian Jokozela, who has an impressive background in the industry, having appeared in popular television dramas such as Isithembiso, Isono, and Isibaya, to name a few.

Jokozela emphasises the importance of speech and acting classes for young people, noting that: “Speech training equips young individuals with the skills to become confident and articulate public speakers, enabling them to express themselves effectively in any setting. Meanwhile, acting plays a crucial role in building self-confidence, significantly improving communication skills, and fostering enhanced creativity.

“It also provides a valuable platform for self-expression, allowing individuals to explore their inner selves and connect with others on a deeper level. Moreover, acting can serve as a powerful tool for insightful social commentary, prompting reflection and dialogue on important issues.”

The classes offer comprehensive training and individualised coaching for both beginners and experienced performers looking to refine their craft.

“We are actively seeking talented and dedicated young individuals to join our dynamic classes, and we extend a warm invitation to all aspiring actors to audition for a place in our programme,” added Jokozela. “To audition successfully, we kindly request that you prepare a captivating solo acting piece, such as a compelling monologue or a thought-provoking poem. Duets are also warmly welcomed and encouraged.”
