Beaulieu Preparatory School on a ‘BE KIND’ mission

The Grade 5,6 and 7 learners are working on a vibrant, impactful project that will be displayed at the Kyalami Corner Shopping Centre

The senior art club from Beaulieu Preparatory School plans to ‘kill their community with kindness’.

The Grade 5,6 and 7 learners are working on a vibrant, impactful project that will be displayed at the Kyalami Corner Shopping Centre on Heritage Day, a celebration of shared values among South Africans.

The project is three-dimensional letters that spell ‘#BE KIND’, aimed at showcasing the values of kindness and empathy.

Donavan Williams, the school’s arts teacher said, “It’s not like kindness has disappeared from our community but rather, our learners understand that it is a value that always needs nurturing and reinforcement. Kindness and empathy are a foundation of good communities.”

This great initiative is supported by the principal Noele Hillen and transformation head Xolani Majola, who noted that diversity and inclusion underscored the importance of kindness as a cornerstone of the learning experience.

Hillen said, “Learning and education are deeply intertwined with social interaction and kindness fosters a positive and inclusive environment where learners feel valued and respected, allowing them to thrive academically and emotionally.”

‘BE KIND’ is universal that anyone can resonate with and the learners hope that it will bring joy to the community, especially with the vibrant colours that the letters will be painted.
