Golden Key appoints The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall campus learner as new chairperson

An opportunity which has been offered to Koketso Kgabo Phakubje is sure to make a great impact on his life, and equip him with skills that he would not be able to acquire in a classroom.

Koketso Kgabo Phakubje, a fourth-year student at The Independent Institute of Education’s (IIE’s) Varsity College Waterfall, studying a Bachelor of Education in Intermediate Phase, has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Golden Key International Honour Society.

The society is an organisation that is determined to give learners who obtain remarkable marks the opportunity to grow themselves at an international level.

The Golden Key society is the world’s largest international collegiate honour society for graduate and undergraduate students, and has strong relationships with over 400 universities around the world.

The society enables members to grow themselves beyond the classroom walls, by providing them with access to financial rewards in the form of scholarships.

They also introduce members to publications, including e-newsletters, networking opportunities, and entry into corporate circles.

They also focus on community service opportunities, with a focus on literacy, education, and real-world preparedness for at-risk youth.

“I’ve connected with like-minded individuals and gained valuable leadership skills through the society’s mentorship and leadership programmes. Opportunities like being headhunted through industry connections, and participating in initiatives such as the L’Oreal Brand Storm 2025, were through my membership to the society, which has expanded my professional network, and sparked my creativity,” said Phukubje, who is happy about the opportunity that was given to him.
