The Brian Molapisane Foundation, through its growing movement #ProtectABoyChild, hosted a meaningful Mother’s Day Charity Drive Walk in Midrand.
The walk on May 11, covering a 10km route from Noordwyk to Carlswald and back, was not just a physical activity; it was a symbolic act of gratitude, healing, and appreciation led by young boys and men who are learning to express love and celebrate the role of women in their lives.
The founder of the foundation Brian Molapisane said the aim of the event was twofold. “To honour mothers on their special day and to raise awareness around the needs of young boys, especially when it comes to mental health, hygiene, and access to essential resources.”

The boys walked with purpose, many holding placards and wearing branded #ProtectABoyChild T-shirts, making a loud but peaceful statement: “We love you, moms, and we’re choosing a better path for ourselves.”
“As part of the charity drive, donations were collected, with a focus on items like male deodorants, which will be distributed during the foundation’s upcoming outreach activities and youth development programmes.
“The T-shirts were also sold at R250, with proceeds supporting mentorship camps, emotional wellness workshops, and physical development activities aimed at building confident, respectful, and responsible young men.”

Participants included local teens, volunteers, and young men from the foundation’s mentorship programmes. There was a spirit of unity and reflection throughout the walk. “Some walked to honour mothers who raised them, others walked to reflect on their growth as young men trying to break toxic cycles and embrace a future built on empathy and discipline.”
Molapisane added feedback from one of the participants was: “This walk was more than just steps. It was about remembering how much our mothers do for us every single day. We want them to know they are seen, appreciated, and loved.”
The event concluded with a heartfelt message from the boys: “To all the beautiful, strong, and selfless mothers out there, we love you. Thank you for your sacrifices, your love, and your guidance. This walk was for you.”

The foundation continues to work tirelessly to create safe spaces for boys, pushing against stigma, shame, and silence, and instead promoting conversation, healing, and purpose.
