Local activist wins first position in the 2025 young leader’s awards

Ivory Park’s Vuyolethu Sibiya believes this recognition aims to inspire and uplift the local youth by offering youth-driven solutions.

“Winning the 1st place in the Civil Society category at the 2025 Free SA Young Leaders Awards is a humbling and deeply meaningful experience for me”.

These were the words of Vuyolethu Sibiya from Ivory Park.

Sibiya (34) scooped 1st position in the 2025 Free South Africa (SA) Young Leaders Awards under the Civic Society category.

The Free SA Young Leaders Awards are a prestigious national recognition platform that celebrates young South Africans who are making significant contributions in various fields such as civil society, education, entrepreneurship, technology, and governance.

These awards shine a spotlight on young changemakers who are actively shaping South Africa’s future.

Sibiya said, “It’s a recognition not only of my personal efforts, but of the young people and communities we serve through Kuzondlula Motivational Tour. It validates years of dedication, sleepless nights, and unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, education, and community development. It also reminds me that our work matters—and inspires me to keep going.

The founder of the Kuzondlula Motivational Tour, said his organisation focuses on youth development through motivational school tours, career guidance, and mentorship.

His work within civil society is rooted in building young people’s confidence, access to education, and active civic participation.

“The awards aim to inspire, uplift, and empower young leaders by recognising their impact and giving them a platform to amplify their voices. They also serve to highlight youth-driven solutions and innovations that address social, economic, and developmental challenges in South Africa,” adds Sibiya.

Asked how did he enter for the awards and what was the process, he said he was nominated by individuals who follow and support his work in community development and youth empowerment.

“The process involved submitting a detailed profile of my work, including supporting documents, recognitions, and a video summarizing my impact. Thereafter, the public voting phase and adjudication by a panel of judges determined the final winners,” concluded Sibiya.
