Two suspects arrested in President Park with large cache of suspected illicit alcohol

Upon stopping and searching the vehicle, officers discovered 470 suspected boxes of illicit vodka alcohol, totalling approximately 11 280 bottles worth about R235 600 at street value.

Two male suspects were arrested in Midrand, where officials confiscated 470 boxes of suspected illicit alcohol with an approximate street value of R235 600.

The items were booked at Midrand Police Station for further investigation.

During a routine patrol along Kruger Road in President Park on June 21, Midrand police, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, and Hawkeye Security Solutions stopped a suspicious fully loaded bakkie.

Upon stopping and searching the vehicle, officers discovered 470 suspected boxes of illicit vodka alcohol, totalling approximately 11 280 bottles.

Hawkeye Security director Rajan Pillay stated the driver could not produce any documentation verifying the legality or origin of the alcohol and failed to provide a reasonable explanation for its possession.

“Both the driver and passenger admitted that the alcohol was being transported to Tembisa,” said Pillay. “The suspects were arrested, and all evidence was transported to Midrand SAPS for ongoing investigation and processing.”
