Vorna Valley resident says Johannesburg Water spokesperson blocked him

Three years after a blocked manhole damaged his swimming pool, Stuart Hall is still at loggerheads with JW, now with the entity's spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala, who allegedly blocked him on WhatsApp.

Despite Johannesburg Water (JW) spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala saying the entity would appreciate it if Stuart Hall, from Vorna Valley, could share the details of instances where commitments were not met, it has since emerged that Shabalala has blocked Hall.

In the article, Red rage over green pool, [Week ending 16 May 2025] Shabalala said Hall should share the details to address them appropriately.

However, according to Hall, Shabalala blocked him on WhatsApp and did not take his calls.

This stems from a blocked JW manhole outside Hall’s yard, which caused sewage water to seep into his yard and pool in 2022. Three years later, Hall is not giving up his fight against the entity to have it take responsibility for his damaged pool.

Since Hall reported JW’s lack of transparency and willingness to assist to the paper, he feels victimised. “I sent [Shabalala] a WhatsApp introducing myself and asking her to contact me urgently about my problem, along with some pictures of the sewage flooding our road on June 4. The message was delivered, and after that, she blocked me. Can you believe it? After what she said in the article in response to your question, what a load of lies.”

Hall said he was allegedly told by someone in a managerial position that his matter was escalated to their communication sections, as he had escalated to the media, when he inquired about the progress of his case.
Shabalala was contacted on June 10, and June 26 and 27 for comment, but requested a deadline extension to July 13, which was duly granted. We await her response and will print it as soon as we receive it.
