Job portal offers vital resource to SMME’s in Ward 112

Arthur Bvuma, Ward 112 committee member for the economic development portfolio, said the portal seeks to fight unemployment in the ward while encouraging people with job opportunities to use it to get qualifying individuals.

Ward 112 committee member for the economic development portfolio Arthur ‘Van Tee’ Bvuma said he was pleased to announce that they now have an official ward portal for economic opportunities.

He said the portal was sanctioned by the local ward councillor Lerato Mphefo and fellow ward committee members.

Bvuma said the portal is titled: Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) Plug, with an objective to connect residents with available and identified opportunities from stakeholders in the ward. “However, the portal not only connects SMMEs with opportunities; it also connects job seekers, who are professionals, or labourers in the ward, now that the portal is live and accessible to anyone to use. I, therefore, encourage residents to register themselves, so we don’t leave anyone behind.

“I also urge residents to source for service providers from our portal, as and when they need any services, to empower our local SMMEs who require job opportunities, big or small, and just keep the economy in our community.”

He said there were identified local schools, government departments, hotels, petrol garages, supermarkets, restaurants, retailers in general, commercial developers, centre managements, and gated communities or estates to collaborate with.

“There are many more empowerment programmes to follow, pending sanctions, if we have another ward committee meeting before our term ends, including the ward market, where I want to create a platform for SMMEs and artists to sell their products, services, and also showcase their talents monthly, along with training opportunities, etc,” said Bvuma.
