Mayibuye Primary School learners receive Making A Difference South Africa school shoes

Founder and co-director of MadSA, Chan Naidoo, believes such donations can go a long way in changing learners' school experience.

In a show of kindness and giving, Midrand-based charity organisation, Making A Difference South Africa (MadSA), in collaboration with an unnamed corporate donor, delivered 500 pairs of school shoes and stationery sets to the learners of Mayibuye Primary School in Midrand. This happened on August 29 at the school premises.

Chan Naidoo, founder and co-director of MadSA, said school shoes are deemed an essential part of dignity, provided to learners.

He said the shoes were delivered as part of MadSA’s 1 000 pairs for Mandela campaign. “This distribution follows on the heels of 200 pairs that were distributed to PS Tsosane Primary School, also in Midrand. MadSA has worked tirelessly in the Midrand community, as well as the wider Johannesburg, Mpumalanga, and KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) communities.”

MadSA is a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to making a material difference in the lives of South Africa’s most vulnerable. A core mission is delivered through welfare and humanitarian aid, providing essential relief to communities affected by disasters, like the KZN floods and riots, where they distributed over R9m worth of aid.

He said they hope to galvanise the generosity of the Midrand community by bringing realistic and material changes to the lives of indigent families around the area and across the province.

Naidoo concluded that, through contributing to this simple act of giving shoes, the child builds confidence, and can excel in the classroom. This, ultimately, creates a better life for the learner and their family.
