SBV Services describes Midrand shooting as tragic loss of life

The tragic shooting of three SBV Services guards has been labelled as a shock to the company by SBV group CEO Mark Brett.

SBV Services (SBV) CEO Mark Brett said the deadly shooting involving three of their employees came as a shock to them.

Two SBV employees were allegedly shot by their colleague, who also took his life, during an incident on November 13 at Halfway House, Midrand.

Mark Barrett, group CEO of SBV, said: “We are extremely shocked and saddened by this incident, and the loss of three of our colleagues. On behalf of the entire company, I wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of our employees, our colleagues at the Midrand cash centre, and all those who have been impacted by the passing of our team members.”

Barrett further added that this devastating incident has deeply affected their organisation, and they stand together in solidarity, offering support to the families, friends, and colleagues affected. “Our priority is to ensure that those impacted receive the care and assistance they need during this difficult time. SBV does not condone any form of violence and acts that cause harm, suffering, or the loss of life. We are engaging with the authorities to provide support with the investigation.”

While the trio was in their full uniform, SBV confirmed that the employees were not on duty when the incident occurred, but cannot comment any further.

Barrett said: “With the greatest respect for our employees’ families and their privacy, SBV does not publish the names of employees that have lost their lives, or that have been involved in any incidents.”
