Vorna Valley Residents Association’s inaugural fun day a success

The resident association committee members thanked all the sponsors and community members for making the day a success.

The Anton Hartman Park in Vorna Valley was abuzz with activities during a lively and memorable fun day hosted by the Vorna Valley Residents Association (VVRA).

This happened on November 15, which saw the community gathered in high spirits for the first of its kind fun day spearheaded by committee member, Sophy Ramalepe.

VVRA said the event was brought to life through the collective efforts of the entire committee and marked a meaningful milestone in strengthening community spirit and showcasing local talent.

Despite early concerns that the weather might put a damper on the festivities, only a brief afternoon shower swept through.

The association said the funds raised through this event have already injected new life into several community initiatives that had been on hold, and will now be explored with renewed energy.

Given the limited time available to plan the event, the committee is pleased with the strong turnout.

“The VVRA’s committee extends heartfelt thanks to every member of the community who attended, contributed, and offered encouragement. With 2026 on the horizon, the committee and community stakeholders are excited for what’s to come.

Vorna Valley has shown once again that when its residents come together, there is no limit to what can be achieved,” said the VVRA committee.

The day kicked off energetically with an outdoor Zumba session, led by Alecia Nel-Monteiro, a fitness instructor from the local Planet Fitness.

Later on that afternoon, Warrior Wellness Studio’s Sensei Nad Naicker, who is a 4th dan black belt, showcased the beauty and strength in Tai Chi for all to appreciate.

During the course of the day, there were spot prizes, refreshments and giveaways sponsored by local businesses, The Foodlovers Waterfall Ridge, Mid Properties, Planet Fitness, The Bakehouse and many others, which added more buzz to the event and put a smile on many faces.

Adding to the sense of unity and reassurance, various local security companies were in attendance, dedicating their time and resources to ensure residents felt safe and supported throughout the day.

The committee extends sincere gratitude to Ria Sebetsa, ADT and TRSS, for proving to be a reliable pillar of strength in Vorna Valley’s landscape.

VVRA said their visible commitment reinforced the strong partnership they shared with the community.
