Summerhill School SA learner Anushka Sharma made her mark in the South African National Equestrian Schools Association Mounted Archery competition after securing first place in Gauteng in the Rising Stars League.

The competition took place on March 14 at the Phoenix Horseback Archery Club in Pretoria East, where Anushka delivered an impressive performance on her horse, Count’d Cash, showcasing skill, focus, and strong horsemanship.

Mounted archery is a highly demanding sport that requires riders to control their horse while accurately shooting arrows at targets, combining speed, precision, and a close partnership between horse and rider.

Anushka rose to the challenge with confidence, earning 50 points to claim the top spot in Gauteng, a result that reflects the dedication, discipline, and training behind her achievement.

Her success has been warmly celebrated by the school, which praised her determination and commitment to an unusual and demanding sporting code.
