Around 77 orphans from homes such as the Bramley Children’s Home, Bana ba Kgotso Bible School and Creche attended the carnival. During the carnival, the children enjoyed good food, children’s games, music, and dance.

Connect to Feed is a non-profit organisation that helps with providing food parcels, clothes and school uniforms to disadvantaged communities of Midrand, especially in Ivory Park and Tembisa.
Member of Connect to Feed, Jharna Dixit, said that the foundation decided to hold the children’s carnival because, during their back-to-school project, they saw that children don’t get to do fun things besides getting clothes and school supplies.
Lisa Das Neves, the house mom at the Bramley Children’s Home, thanked the organisation and said that the children loved being at the carnival because they don’t get to see their families or go to fun events very often.

“The kids appreciate being here, they love it, and they were so excited they couldn’t even wait for this day to come. A lot of these kids don’t get to see their families and experience so much fun. So, this means so much to them and to people like Connect to feed and Dream Hill School for arranging something like this. Thank you so much.”

In making the carnival happen, the foundation received help from many sponsors to make it possible, including Dream Hill School, which provided the venue for the carnival, BAPS Charities South Africa, which provided 100 pizzas for the kids, and Dr Shivam Bhikha, who provided medical support for the day as an event medical consultant (EMC).
Thokozani Ndlovu, an EMC intermediate life support practitioner, spoke about how he appreciated being a part of the carnival and how beautiful it is to see events such as this being held for children who are orphans.
“It is a privilege for us to be a part of this carnival, more so because the company we work for, which is EMC also become a part of this. To witness the children coming from homes, children who don’t really have families, being celebrated and also given their right to have fun as children is heart-warming.”
The carnival was a beautiful way to help the little ones start their Easter holidays with love, fun and warmth.
