Nova Pioneer Midrand is raising young leaders

Proud parents watched as learners from grades 2 to 7, from the Nova Pioneer Midrand Senior School, stepped into their roles on the student leadership council for the year ahead.

A new generation of leaders is rising at Nova Pioneer Midrand Senior School, and they are starting young.

From confident speeches to proud parents looking on, the school hosted its first-ever student leadership council inauguration on April 10.

The milestone event brought together parents, teachers, and learners to witness a defining moment as young leaders took their oath of office for the 2026 academic year.

Learners from grades 2 to 7 demonstrated remarkable courage and initiative by putting themselves forward for leadership roles.

The selection process was both reflective and democratic, with candidates submitting motivational letters before being voted into office by their peers.

Dean of students Nomsa Dimpe highlighted the importance of the process, noting that the learners’ written motivations played a key role in showcasing their vision and commitment to serving the school community.

Head of school Thokozani Mhlanga emphasised that leadership development is central to the school’s ethos.

“This, for us, is very important, because one of the things that we are proud of is that we are a school of innovators and leaders.

We take leadership seriously, and we are happy that our learners are taking part in these roles.”

As the young leaders embark on their journey, Mhlanga concluded that the Nova school community looks ahead with optimism, confident that these learners will help shape a positive and inclusive school environment throughout the year.
