Tshwaranang centre opens doors to a drug-free future

Tshwaranang Prevention and Awareness Treatment Centre invites teens to explore opportunities for growth, education, and a drug-free life.

As substance abuse continues to disrupt communities, Tshwaranang Prevention and Awareness Treatment Centre is stepping up to provide young people with the guidance and support they need to stay on the right path.

From prevention and awareness campaigns to counselling and treatment support, the centre offers a safe space where teenagers can seek help, learn about the dangers of drugs, and gain the skills to resist peer pressure before addiction takes hold.

Local teenagers are encouraged to make use of these support services offered by the centre as the fight against drug and substance abuse continues in the community.

According to Tshwaranang’s Mthuthuzeli Sithole, the centre is committed to helping young people make better life choices before they find themselves trapped in addiction.

“Tshwaranang focuses on prevention, awareness, counselling, treatment support, and family guidance, helping youth make healthier life choices and find a way out of addiction.”

Sithole said many young people often suffer in silence due to fear, shame, or peer pressure, which is why it is important for them to know that help is available close to home.

“The centre serves as a safe space where young people can access help, education, and rehabilitation support, while also raising awareness in the community about the dangers of drugs, alcohol abuse, and peer pressure.”

As substance abuse continues to affect many communities, the centre is urging teenagers and families not to wait until the situation becomes severe, but to seek support as early as possible.
