Night of the Stars delivers memorable performances at Curro Sagewood

Stardom was showcased by grades 8 to 12 learners at Curro Sagewood, as they performed a night of excellence for their parents.

Parents were invited to a beautiful night of art, when they witnessed learners expressing their creativity and talent on stage at Curro Sagewood’s Night of the Stars.

The event was inspired by the school’s passion for developing culture and celebrating learners’ talents in all forms.

“I played a leading role in organising the Night of the Stars event. I was involved in planning the programme, co-ordinating performances, communicating with learners and teachers, and making sure everything ran smoothly on the day of the event.”

She also explained how the idea for the event came about, and how it benefits learners.

“The idea was created to give all learners a chance to be recognised and appreciated, especially those whose strengths may not always be reflected in the classroom.”

Learners performed poetry and sang solos, whilst the school choir also gave great performances. Some of the learners even danced through the night, with enthusiasm and excitement for the audience to see.

While some of the learners were nervous, having stage fright because it was their first time performing in front of people, others only showed excitement for the opportunity to showcase their talents to their parents and the school community.

Kunene said that the learners performing and participating in the event were proud to perform in front of their families.

“Many learners felt proud that their families could see what they are capable of, beyond academics.”
