Ekurhuleni district police spokesperson Captain Nelda Sekgobela confirmed the arrests and said members of SAPS crime intelligence Tshwane district and crime intelligence Ekurhuleni district received information regarding a planned assassination involving the businessman and his wife.
“It was established that the victim owns three tuck shops in the area, and the suspects were planning to take over his business after his assassination, since they are related to the victim.”
Sekgobela said officers from the crime intelligence and Rabie Ridge police launched an operation that led to the first arrest in Kaalfontein. The 29-year-old suspect, who is also believed to be a shop owner in Mayibuye, was allegedly linked to arrangements made with hitmen to carry out the murder.
