The perfect touch

KYALAMI – Local soccer club's U11 and U15 teams are a force to be reckoned with.

Budding soccer stars in Kyalami are getting closer to finding that perfect touch of the football.

Based at Kyalami Preparatory School since 2015, Touch Perfect Football Club now boasts U11 and U15 teams in the Easterns and North Rand Football Association leagues.

The club has also started a junior academy, the TPFC Junior Academy.

“We first started off as just a junior club with U7s and U8s,” club founder and chairperson, Titus Tshelane said minutes before his team took to the field under a clear Kyalami sky.

“So far it has been a learning curve for our U15s.

“We have been struggling to get the boys to come down and actually understand what Touch Perfect is all about. Some of them just came from different clubs.”

The coach said despite it being hard putting a side together, the U15 team had done well in its league.

“We are learning a lot playing clubs like Wits [Juniors], Panorama and Highlands Park. Those clubs have been established and I must be honest we are holding our own there.”

Touch Perfect’s U11 team reached the semi-final of its cup last year. That was the first competitive season the team played in.

This year the team was unfortunately knocked out in the round of 16.

According to Tshelane, one of the main reasons for the club’s success in its early years has been the support shown by parents.

“I think everybody wants to make Touch Perfect a success and follow through with its mission and vision of playing in top South African leagues.”

Tshelane also said he could not complain about the beautiful grass and facilities that make training a pleasure at Kyalami Preparatory School.
