Easter Festival is cancelled by SA Equestrian Federation
KYALAMI – The Easter Festival has been cancelled by SA Showjumping and the South African Equestrian Federation.
South Africa Showjumping have announced the cancellation of the Easter Festival, one of showjumping’s biggest events on the calendar which that takes place at Kyalami Park Club.
In a Facebook post published around noon on 16 March, the entity said all its events ‘have been cancelled or postponed till further notice’.
This includes the Presidents Cup, which it said along with the Easter Festival new dates would be advised in due course. The Easter Festival would have been held from 4 to 13 April and this would have been its 11th year.

The post provided a link to a media statement issued by the South African Equestrian Federation (SAEF) on the same day, which highlighted the restriction made by President Cyril Ramaphosa of more than 100 people gathering in one place.
“The SAEF appreciates the amount of work and incredible investment every organiser puts into their event,” the media statement read.
“While the SAEF does not itself organise any events, it is the caretaker of equestrian sport in South Africa.
“It is therefore that we need, as a matter of urgency, to ensure that all South African equestrians are protected from being exposed to the coronavirus.
“This status quo will continue until at least to the end of the Easter holidays but may also be extended as per the government’s further instructions.”
