Keep kids active while sporting activities are banned

JOBURG – Youngsters can have a blast with their soccer coaches through Little Kickers Fourways.

Little Kickers has posted fun online videos to help youngsters keep their soccer skills up to date during the lockdown.

The soccer outfit has made the videos public through their Facebook page, Little Kickers Fourways, as well as Facebook person, LittleKickers Fourways, where they have also shared online content from other Little Kickers franchises from across the world.

In addition to this, the group has sent more training videos to their players via WhatsApp groups.

“Our coaches, Wilson Shendzelani and Patrick Shabangu made their videos before the lockdown and they are a great activity for parents and children to bond with,” said Karunes Naidoo, owner of the Fourways group.

The videos include a variety of activities including making soccer balls, joining the dots and a treasure hunt where a parent can hide the soccer ball for the child to find.

In one video, coach Shendzelani and Karunes’ daughter Shriya practise their goal scoring and soccer tricks.

There are two parts to this, first Shriya runs around a cone before chipping the ball with the side of her big toe so the ball goes over some cones into the goal.

The second phase of the drill sees Shriya running around the same cone before scooping the ball up with the front of her foot to send it over the cones and into the goal again.

“I would like to invite anyone interested in joining Little Kickers to attend one of our free trials after the lockdown has ended. They can set that up but contacting us,” Karunes concluded.
