Ntsimbi fits like a glove at his new club

In his first 29 league appearances, he recorded 12 clean sheets and only 25 goals conceded in his presence as a center-back.

Former Spoilers centre-back Lukhanyo ‘Ntsimbi’ Mapeyi is having a wonderful season at his newly joined club, Indlovu FC.

Ntsimbi left Spoilers to join its Midrand rivalry at the beginning of the regional league season. In his first 29 league appearances for Indlovu, he has recorded 12 clean sheets and only 25 goals conceded in his presence as a defender. “Each team has its way of doing things and what I can say is that I am happy that I joined Indlovu,” said Ntsimbi.

In recent weeks, he has received praise from his coach Thato Legodi for his outstanding performance. “To be honest, you can ask any team’s recent signing how they are comping. The answer is always the same, ‘difficult, but I’ll adjust in time’. You sometimes find players who dislike you, some even criticize you, so you have to be strong mentally,” said Ntsimbi.

“The experience of joining this team has been beneficial to me. I’ve made it to being a regular starting player yet this is my first season. Having competition among your teammates is a good thing because it makes you a player that always wants to work hard and grow.”

Ntsimbi is an aggressive defender known for making strong tackles and using his body to win the ball. The 23-year-old Ivory Park-based player said his highlight of the season so far is their games against Opopo FC which ended in a 1-1 draw, and against FC Munich which ended in a goalless draw. “Those games stand out for me because we frustrated strong teams and the combination we have at the back is outstanding.”

“If you are coachable you will learn and whenever you are challenged, you will grow. I guess that is what I needed and the team gave me all that,” he concluded.
