Local church women celebrate Women’s Month by painting Midrand streets Pink and White
Pastor Phindi Mathebula said the purpose of the run was to mark Women’s Day and bring remembrance some of the struggles that women face in society.
About 250 to 300 women painted Midrand streets Pink and White on August 9 as part of the National Women’s Day commemoration.
Ladies from Hope Restoration Ministries (HRM) Victorious Women celebrated the Annual Embrace Run and Walk.
Lead pastor and founder of Victorious Women, Phindi Mathebula said the event started as a virtual event during the Covid-19 pandemic and has since tripled in magnitude which includes a 10km, 5km run, and a 5km walk.

From around 6:30 – 10:00, various roads from Richards Drive, Le Roux Avenue, Allandale Road and Waterfall City Drive were filled with runners wearing pink and white.
Mathebula said the purpose was to mark Women’s Day and remember the struggles that women face in society.
“Gender-based violence, domestic violence, poverty, injustice, and the high unemployment rate are things we’re facing, and we call on all to be a part of changing the narrative. We want to encourage women to embrace one another in fighting all these social ills,” said Mathebula.

The church holds a series of runs in which women can participate regularly to create awareness on various issues that touch on their general well-being.
On August 25 and 26, HRM’s Victorious Women will be holding their 12th Annual Conference at the Sun Bet Arena, Time Square, Menlyn Maine.
The event, which is hosted by Hope Restoration Ministries Mathebula and reverend, Chris Mathebula, will be celebrated under the theme, ‘Beauty for Ashes’.
Guest speakers include advocate, Emily Zim and pastor, Candice Chicken.

The conference programme also includes a concert, which will have a line-up of leading gospel artists Lebo Sekgobela, Dr Tumi and Hlengiwe Mhlaba.
She said every year, the conference has been used as a platform for networking, education, sisterhood, and inspiration to women from all over South Africa and neighbouring countries.
“Delegates are always empowered and equipped on pertinent topics such as mental health, physical, and financial wellbeing; beauty and personal care, GBV, spirituality and personal growth,” concluded Mathebula.
