Beaulieu College starts the Golden Lions High Schools’ Rugby Association league with victories

Beaulieu College starts the Golden Lions High Schools Rugby Association league with victories.

With such an excellent start to the Golden Lions High Schools’ Rugby Association league, Beaulieu College’s rugby teams are sure to keep us on the edge of our seats the whole season.

The school is participating in the league with three teams – first team, U16s, and U15s – and all three of them have opened the campaign with victories.

Beaulieu College hosted De La Salle Holy Cross College (DLSHCC) on April 3 in Kyalami to kick off the new season.

The home side performed exceptionally well against the visitors, with the first team winning 17–3, the U16s giving De La Salle a whipping 12–0, and the U15s winning their encounter 12–10 albeit after a tough match.

Beaulieu College group head of sports Billy Wagner expressed his satisfaction with the teams’ performance, which he believes is promising in the league after playing a few fixtures against some tough opponents in various Easter Festivals.

The pre-season games helped the boys prepare for the league season, and they certainly showed character against DLSHCC.

However, on April 6, they played their second league encounters against St Peter’s College in Sunninghill, which was a tough challenge for Beaulieu.

They managed to win one out of three, proving how the Golden Lions league keeps delivering tough matches.

Although the Beaulieu first team gave a good account of themselves, St Peter’s boys were a tough opponent to beat at home, and they beat Beaulieu 28–19.

The Beaulieu U16 boys continued their winning streak by conceding just five points and to their 31.

Meanwhile, the U15 Beaulieu boys had a tough day at the office after St Peter’s beat them 12–0.

Wagner concluded that this season looked like it would be a challenging one, but they were ready and looking forward to a tougher league season ahead.
