Finishing second was not enough for Indlovu FC
Indlovu FC views its season as a blend of accomplishment and missed opportunities.

Indlovu FC’s recent performance in the Johannesburg Men’s Regional League has left them in a bittersweet position.
Despite securing a commendable second place, the team finds themselves falling short of their ultimate goal, a spot in the Provincial Playoffs.

The Elephants’ season is one of determination and resilience, marked by their impressive tally of 68 points from 34 games.
However, for Coach Thato Legodi and his squad, this achievement is tinged with a sense of unfulfillment. Legodi, while acknowledging the statistical success, emphasises that true victory lies in reaching the playoffs.
Legodi, in reflection, views the season as a blend of accomplishment and missed opportunities.
He attributes their setbacks to factors beyond their control, including officiating decisions that influenced game outcomes.
“I think the only opponent we really lost against was Appa FC, other than that I think we lost on three walkovers which were something we could not control, and there are matches whereby you lose 1–0 and the officiating is poor which is also something we cannot control but our boys are quite a good squad,” he explained.

“They deserved to be first with the type of play they displayed and the attitude that they gave. The attitude which aligns with their character. They fought; they played well.”

The rivalry with league champions, Opopo FC, adds fuel to Indlovu’s competitive spirit. While acknowledging Opopo’s strengths, Legodi remains optimistic about Indlovu’s prospects in the upper division.
“However they[Opopo] might not make it again because of the type of players that they have and the personnel. And personally, we played them, we beat them, and they returned the favour by winning against us on a walkover, which is something we need to point out.
“But really, if they do go to playoffs, we do wish that they go to the ABC Motsepe League and the reason is that so that we can have a better season to progress to the next phase also.”
The team’s final league match, though ending in a loss, served as a stepping stone for future growth. With a focus on player development and strategic planning for the upcoming season, Legodi showcases his forward-thinking approach.
The decision to provide playing time for upcoming talents highlights the team’s commitment to nurturing a strong foundation for success.
Legodi also acknowledges the dedication and character of his players. His heartfelt gratitude towards his team reflects a bond that extends beyond the field, emphasising the importance of values in sportsmanship and camaraderie.
As Indlovu FC sets their sights on the Lerato Lamola Winter Games tournament, their determination to face Tembisa Red Devils symbolises a continued quest for success.
