Noordwyk parkrun welcomes in the New Year
New Year, new resolutions, as Noordwyk parkrun sees 53 first-time participants join in for their first run of 2025.

The first Noordwyk parkrun of 2025, on January 11, saw 198 outstanding and record-breaking runners, joggers, and walkers join the event.
This was the 133rd parkrun held at the park, welcoming 53 first-time participants.
Event directors Jeany Tshukudu and Amina Saber said the volunteers went out of their way to make the morning extra special.

“Every finisher had a surprise waiting for them in the form of a glitter-topped cookie with a special New Year motivational message attached to it. The volunteers also dressed up in sparkling hats, and so on, making for a wonderful time,” said Tshukudu.
The event is growing as more and more people return with friends to this free event held every Saturday at 08:00 at the Noordwyk Park.
“The event is dog friendly, with one dog allowed per participant on a short hand-held leash. The weekly event creates an opportunity for the community to join, get active, and have fun. Our volunteers are creating an energetic, positive, and motivating atmosphere by encouraging participants to finish the 5km in their own time as parkrun is not a timed event,” added Saber.

The duo said every person is unique and whether they run or walk the 5km, the aim is to ensure that they all complete the same distance.
Tshukudu and Saber said individuality is welcomed and nurtured, and the community is encouraged to join in.
The next Noordwyk parkrun special themed event is scheduled for February 15, named “Love One Another”.
“Please do note that the parkrun is held every Saturday, with special events being held throughout the year for something a little different and also to honour certain important causes,” they added.
