Inter-house competition held at Glen Austin House to prepare for inter-schools
The sports coordinator at the school says they want to display sports excellence alongside academic excellence.

Glen Austin House held its inter-house sports day to prepare for the upcoming inter-school competition.
The school’s sports coordinator Justin Nkoma said the aim was to assess the athletes’ readiness ahead of the school cluster-level competition.
The inter-house saw athletes participate in track and field with the sports grounds coming alive with learners cheering for their houses and athletes.

Nkoma said, “We have been trying to build a strong team for the inter-school competition. So far, we have seen great talent in our athletes and some of them can compete in various sporting codes. It has not been easy to build the team but so far, everything is going according to plan.”
The Elephants won the day with 196 points, with the Sharks coming in second with 175 and the Eagles 136.
Nkoma said the inter-school track events would be held at Midrand High School on February 7.

“We are hopeful of doing well at the inter-schools. It’s a chance for the athletes to show their talent and maybe qualify for district and perhaps regional. The main purpose is to uplift the name of the school and show that besides academic excellence, we can still have sports talent.”
He was optimistic that they would bring back some silverware.
