Total Football Excellence coach has high hopes for Hollywoodbets Regional League

Total Football Excellence coach Isaac 'Iceman' Mabotsa thanked the players, parents, and team owner, Theodora Crozét, for all the support they have given him and the players.

Total Football Excellence (TFE) coach Isaac ‘Iceman’ Mabotsa says winning the Midrand Local Football Association (MLFA) was not by fluke. The Waterfall City-based team only lost one game in 26 league outings, winning a remarkable 22 and only drawing three.

Mabotsa, a former Kaizer Chiefs defender, said it was a good season for them as a team.

TFE will now play in the SAFA Johannesburg Hollywoodbets Regional League next season with the aim of progressing to the ABC Motsepe League.

He said it was not easy, but because of hard work, dedication, and teamwork, they collectively made it in their second stint in the league. “We gave ourselves two seasons in the league. In our maiden campaign, the boys were not familiar with the league, and it was tough for them. In that season, we finished in third position on the log, but we did strengthen the team because we lost some players due to school – some going to further their studies in universities and some went overseas.”

When asked what ambitions they have for the regional league, Mabotsa said it was good for the players, and TFE as a brand to play there. “I hope for the best there as well. I don’t want to say we will win it. For us, our first objective is to avoid relegation, and to see what happens in the second season. Maybe then we can talk about challenging the league, after acclimatising to the environment.”

He added that, ahead of the campaign, they will need to bolster their squad with an experienced goalkeeper, central midfielder, and a striker to guide his players.

Mabotsa thanked the team owner, whom he addressed as chairperson Theodora Crozét, and the players’ parents for their dedication and support in achieving this milestone, saying their unity has been exceptional.
