FGSA stars reaffirm positions as SA’s leading foot golfers
Mpho Mbele, Clint White, and Vuyiswa Ntombela triumphed at the 2025 Copa Invierno FootGolf tournament hosted at Oppenheimer Park Golf Club.
FootGolf SA’s (FGSA) foot golfers Mpho Mbele, Clint White, and Vuyiswa Ntombela have proven their dominance at the 2025 Copa Invierno FootGolf tournament.
The event took place at the stunning Oppenheimer Park Golf Club in Welkom over the weekend of July 5-6, attracting top talent and rising stars from across the nation.
This tournament marked a significant milestone as one of the first major competitions hosted at the newly established Oppenheimer Park FootGolf Course, positioning it as a vital centre for the growth of the sport in the Free State and beyond.

In the men’s category, Mbele delivered a standout performance, securing first place and solidifying his status as a leading figure in South African FootGolf. Dillon Germshuys, a relatively new name on the scene, surprised many with an impressive performance, claiming second place.
Rounding out the top three was veteran player Vincent Mabusela, whose consistency continues to keep him among the country’s elite. Notably, Mabusela made history as the first player to complete a full competition using the new flagship ball, Mía, a milestone moment for footgolf equipment development in South Africa.
The women’s competition saw a triumphant return for Ntombela, who clinched first place dominantly. Ntombela’s win marked a significant comeback and a reminder of her strong legacy in the sport. Kefilwe Masinda Mphake followed in second place, with Mpho Makua completing the podium in third.

In the senior men’s division, Clint White emerged as champion after a weekend of focused play. He was trailed closely by Scott Keevy in second place, while Etienne Jansen van Vuuren secured a well-earned third.
Mbele, Ntombela, Keevy, and Samons are now turning their focus to international competition as they prepare for the prestigious FIFG Masters, set to take place from August 21-24 in England. The quartet qualified for the event during the 2024 National Championship, and their recent performances suggest they’ll be serious contenders on the global stage.
FGSA president Norman Mphake said it was encouraging to see the winners reaffirm their positions as South Africa’s leading foot golfers by securing top local finishes just ahead of their departure to compete in the FIFG Masters and English Open.
“Their victories are a testament to their consistency and dedication. We proudly extend our best wishes to them and all other South African players as they represent us on the international stage,” said Mphake.
