Allandale Ext 1 FC U11 and U13 coach coaches more then football, he coaches a way of life
Local coach Tefo Phillip Mollo hopes, with community assistance, Allandale Ext 1 FC will go far, and the young players will become the best football players in Midrand.
According to 31-year-old Tefo Phillip Mollo, football is more than developing talented players; it is about giving young people direction, building confidence, and helping them become responsible members of their community.
The Allandale resident, who has been coaching since 2017 and currently leads the Allandale Ext 1 FC U11 and U13 teams, believes he is helping make a difference in the community by helping young people.
Soon after completing matric in 2015, the following year Mollo volunteered as a caretaker at iKamva Youth. It was there that he discovered his love for coaching.

“I was asked to step in and coach a team because the regular coach wasn’t available. That opportunity reignited my passion for coaching and showed me that this was something I wanted to do.”
Before he joined Allandale Ext 1 FC, Mollo says the team was not performing well. That shifted his focus to developing more than football skills. He now makes every training session one that teaches discipline, teamwork, respect, and commitment.
These are values he believes are just as important as technical ability. He adds that during his time coaching young players, he learnt that they require patience, consistency, and a genuine passion for youth development.
“My goal is to create an environment where every child feels encouraged to learn, improve, and believe in themselves.”

Mollo also acknowledges the important role parents play in the development of young athletes.
“The support we receive from parents has helped many of our players stay focused on their football dreams. I encourage more parents to support their children’s ambitions, because it makes a huge difference.”
Despite the progress the club has made, Mollo believes additional support from the entire community could help the young players reach even greater heights.
He hopes sponsors can assist with playing kits and other essential equipment, saying better resources would help the club grow, and strengthen its standing within the Midrand Local Football Association.
