Meet the musical duo
MIDRAND - Residents and musical duo who use stage names Owl and Simone, love performing what they call alternative acoustic music.
Owl said the duo met through a mutual friend five years ago, but started singing together two years ago. “Simone told me she was a singer and the first time I heard her sing, I loved her honey-toned voice,” said Owl.
The duo sing well-known 50s to 80s songs by Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra among others.
Owl said they played at restaurants, corporate events, and have a cover project, SHYNE in collaboration with two other musicians.
“We have a CD called Meet Me At The Edges that we released through SHYNE. It was recorded in 2013.”
The duo hopes, and is working towards, performing overseas to grow their music.
Owl and Simone will next be playing at a special event, Accoustic Bond on 19 September in Bryanston. “We would love it if the Midrand residents came to our event in Bryanston,” they said.
