Ivory Park resident creates a clothing brand as a way of representing his community

IVORY PARK – Resident creates his own clothing brand for his community

Laumbo Raudisa established a clothing brand to generate funds and dress his community members.

Ivory Park Ext 8 resident Raudisa (24) was inspired by his mother who is a tailor and street vendor. He grew up admiring his mother for going all out to provide for the family which gave him the passion to start his own hustle.

After matriculating at Eqinisweni Secondary School, he enrolled at MSC College in Midrand where he obtained a diploma in marketing and is currently doing a dressmaking course which he says is not easy but he is willing to learn more through it.

In 2018 he created a clothing brand called Kasi Ke Style. As he was raised as a tailor, he used that as an inspiration to start his own clothing line, “The creation of this brand comes from my mother who inspired me not to lose hope and pursue my dreams under any circumstances.”

Ever since he started selling his clothes he has received a great feedback from his customers, “I have not sold enough of my designs but the response from those who bought is amazing which gives me hope and strength every day.”

Besides making money for himself, he plans to help improve the lives of those who are less fortunate. “I do not earn enough money as I am a cleaner but my wish is to go back to my high school and help school pupils who cannot afford to pay for their matric farewell as I believe that each and every learner deserve a chance to enjoy their last days in school.”

In the future he sees himself owning a clothing shop and growing his brand, “I wish to open a shop when the time is right and I plan to approach various designers who can help me with designing as I sell a variety of clothes from hats and shirts to tracksuit pants.”
