Midrand’s Buhe Sibanda is set to drop a music video and single

MAYIBUYE – Buhe Sibanda better known as Spexeen Tolly Flames shared his journey into music and what inspired his latest single Ethunenilikamaa.

Local artist Buhe Sibanda, who performs under the stage name Spexeen Tolly Flames, shared his excitement about his upcoming EP.

The 26-year-old artist said singing had always been a passion of his and had sung in his primary school choir when he was 10. In secondary school, he started a music group, Imbube Group.

“A year later I dropped out of school and decided to hustle,” he said. “By that time I used to listen to Kwaito music, being influenced by the likes of Zola and HHP.” In 2014, he moved from Zimbabwe to South Africa and started recording music.

“We worked in a backroom studio in the township before I could go to other studios in 2017 which was when I was able to practise rapping.”

In 2019, he released his song Ethunenilikamaa which he wrote for his mother who passed away when he was eight years old. “It is a touching song that reminds everyone who lost their mothers at a young age to deal with the pain and take comfort.”

Sibanda added that upon releasing the song he received many comments from people who had enjoyed it, which motivated him to work on his upcoming project. “I m going to release an EP later this year… but I do promise another single before April for my fans as I can see they expect a lot from me.”

He said he was focusing on writing more music as well as preparing a music video for Ethunenilikamaa. “I am up for collaborations and willing to help some upcoming artists to also showcase their talents, since we spend most of our time at home.”
