Andile Ngubeni, better known as ‘Anzo’ dropped his much-anticipated track Dlala on July 30, a track he described as a message not just to the young people but also the elderly.

The Midrand-based rapper, musician and writer hailing from KwaZulu-Natal said that what inspired the track was his love for most, if not all, genres of music. “Just to make things easier for me, when I did Dlala I wanted to put the spotlight on the older people and encourage them to also listen up in life, because you know when one grows up life starts to be tough on us. Therefore I was just telling the elders to loosen up a bit and just Dlala which means ‘just dance’.

The musician said that the idea was also about creating a moment for his listeners, so they could have fun. He added that the song was a teaser to his upcoming EP which will be his first project under 1020 Cartel, his record label.

“The EP will be dropping on August 27 and will be titled 3310 which is the postal code of where I come from in KZN. Why 3310? I decided to name it that because most of the stories on the album are just an example of things that I have learnt and seen growing up, as well as what I know now.”

With his project soon to drop, the rapper said that he is excited to see the government slowly opening up the country. “I am looking forward to seeing myself perform and I hope I am going to perform a lot because as an artist one won’t be complete without having to engage with their people.”
