How to make a fairy door
This craft made with lolly sticks is easy to make, and the best part is that your little ones can join in on the fun!
Do you want to add a touch of magic to your garden or house? Of course, you do!
Why not make a fairy door? This easy project is great for preschoolers and easy to make.
Gather the materials you need
First, gather all the materials you’ll need for your fairy door. You’ll need:
- Wooden lolly sticks
- Scissors
- Pen
- Markers (optional)
- Some poster or acrylic paint
- PVA glue
- A 20x20cm piece of cardboard
- Small stones
- A button
- A paintbrush
Decorate and assemble the door
Once you’ve got all your materials, it’s time to get creative!
- Paint the lolly sticks with a thin layer of paint, and let them dry completely.
- Glue the lolly sticks to the cardboard, with the central one in the middle and the others on either side, so they all line up. Once you’ve got your sticks in place, let them dry.
- Next, it’s time to make your fairy door look even more magical! Apply a generous amount of PVA glue to the cardboard underneath the lolly stick door, and arrange your small stones underneath it. Make sure to leave as little space as possible between the stones.
- Let the glue dry completely. This might take a few hours.
Add some final touches
To give your fairy door that extra special touch, glue a button onto the lolly stick door as a door handle, and paint a little keyhole beneath it.
Let it dry, and your fairy door is complete!
Place your fairy door in a dry area
Now it’s time to find the perfect spot for your fairy door! It can be added to a tree, fence, or wall in the garden or stuck onto your child’s bedroom skirting board.
Just make sure to place it in a dry area, as this fairy door isn’t waterproof.
