Model’s mission is to inspire change in Mpumalanga
At just 21, Anita Zinhle Vacata is using her voice to champion mental health awareness, youth empowerment and community development.
At just 21, Anita Zinhle Vacata is proving that young people can make a meaningful impact in their communities while pursuing their personal dreams. Through her work in mental health advocacy, youth empowerment and community development, she has become a voice of hope for many in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
As a peer educator at the University of Limpopo health centre, Vacata dedicates her time to promoting mental health awareness and encouraging open conversations about emotional well-being. She believes that mental health is still one of the most important yet often overlooked issues affecting young people.

“Through awareness campaigns, motivational talks, school visits and health promotion initiatives, I work tirelessly to create safe spaces where young people can seek support and build confidence,” said Vacata.
Her passion extends beyond health advocacy. Vacata is committed to empowering those who may have been discouraged from pursuing their ambitions. By sharing her journey and encouraging self-belief, she hopes to inspire others to overcome challenges and chase their dreams without fear of judgement or limitation.
Along with her academic and community work, Vacata has proven herself in the modelling industry. What began as a commercial modelling opportunity soon evolved into a pageantry journey that provided her with a platform to amplify her advocacy work.

Currently, she is a finalist for Miss Face of Courageous South Africa 2026, in which she continues to champion mental health awareness, youth empowerment and community upliftment.
“For me, modelling is about more than beauty and fashion; it is an opportunity to influence positive change and use my voice to address issues affecting young people,” she said.
The model-activist, who hails from Emashonamini, is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Psychology at the University of Limpopo. Vacata completed her matric in 2023 at Oasis College.

Beyond modelling, she is passionate about sport, community development and health promotion.
“To young people who look up to me, never stop believing in yourself. No matter where you come from, your dreams are valid and achievable. Stay focused, work hard and remain committed to your goals, even when faced with challenges. Most importantly, remember that your story has the power to inspire and uplift others,” she said.
