What began as a passion for artistic expression soon developed into a broader commitment to supporting and uplifting fellow creatives. Through dedication, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the transformative power of art, Mashego discovered that creating opportunities for artists can be just as meaningful as creating art itself.

In 2024, she developed an interest in art management and curatorship. This led to the successful curation of a student exhibition at VUT titled Behind The Canvas. Mashego said the exhibition showcased the work of talented student artists and provided them with a platform to share their creative voices with a wider audience.

In 2025, she established Behind The Canvas as a structured initiative dedicated to empowering student artists and creating opportunities for artistic growth.
“Through exhibitions and other art-related projects, the initiative aims to support emerging artists, encourage collaboration, and strengthen the presence of young creatives within the art community,” she said.

“Art is more than a profession or a field of study; it is a powerful tool for expression, connection, and social impact. This belief continues to drive efforts to create spaces where artists can be seen, heard and celebrated.”

Reflecting on the challenges faced by many creatives, Mashego encouraged artists and art lovers to remain committed to their dreams.

“Never give up on your vision and always strive for the best possible results. When we consistently put our best work forward, people take notice. Art is often underrated and undermined, which is why artists must continue to demonstrate the value and importance of their work,” she said.
