Five arrested for possession of rhino horns
One of the Hawks members acted as a buyer in order to confirm the information

MBOMBELA – Five suspects appeared before the Carolina Magistrates Court today for possession of rhino horns estimated to be worth the value of R60 000.
The matter was rolled for their next court appearance tomorrow at the Badplaas Periodical Court.
The suspects were arrested by members of the Hawks in Mpumalanga on April 4 at Secunda following a tip off.
“One of the Hawks members acted as a buyer in order to confirm the information. He met with the suspects on the R541 road. The suspects showed him the Rhino horn,” explained Lt Dineo Sekgobodi, Hawks spokesperson.
The suspects are said to be between 26 and 42 years. Sekgobodi said police also seized a black Golf which was used by the suspects.
