Executive Mayor’s Personal Assistant gunned down, suspect(s) sought
Police are looking for information that could lead to the arrest of a suspect who shot and killed Mr Nicholus Mapayane, Personal Assistant to the Executive Mayor for the Dr JS Moroka Municipality in Nkangala Region.
MBOMBELA- Peu(41) was found dead by his neighbours at his rented place at Kameelrivier A in Vaalbank on last week at approximately 21:00.
Information at police disposal revealed that the neighbours noticed utensils scattered outside the house, the garage door wide open and Peu’s car was not inside.
The neighbours then decided to go and investigate as they thought there was no one seeing that the vehicle was not in the garage as Peu lived alone in that house. As they went closer, they noticed that the kitchen door was also open and that was when Peu’s body was spotted lying on the floor in a pool of blood, they then summoned the police.
When police arrived at the scene, they indeed found the body with bullet wounds. Paramedics at the scene certified the victim dead on the spot. The whole house had been ransacked and clothes were lying all over. The victim’s vehicle, a grey VW Polo was found abandoned at Kameelrivier B with keys inside.
