Government official arrested for misusing state car

The government official was using a state vehicle to transport criminals allegedly involved in business robberies

MBOMBELA – A 48-year-old government official from the department of economic development, environment and tourism, has been arrested after he was allegedly found using a state vehicle to transport criminals who are alleged to be involved in business robberies in surrounding areas of the capital city.

It’s alleged that he’s the master-mind of the criminals who are only targeting foreign shopkeepers. The official was arrested at Tekwane South by the War Room Unit after they had received a tip-off.
According to information, it’s alleged that the suspect is also linked to similar activities which occurred in different places such as Kanyamazane, Kabokweni and Matsulu.
The spokesperson of Pienaar police station, Lieutenant Jabu Ndubane, said police investigations are continuing and the official is expected to make his first appearence at Kabokweni court next week Tuesday.
