Boy’s parent disappointed about the court ruling

"Assaulting a young boy as if he is not a human being is wrong."

THEMBELIHLE – A mother of a 14-year-old boy, whose name is known to this publication, who was brutally attacked by his neighbour after he accused him of stealing his memory card, earphones and R500, said she’s very disappointed about the court ruling.

Ms Salivina Mansolo indicated that justice has not be done to her child. She indicated that after her neighbour, Mr Victor Manyisa appeared at the Kabokweni court and pleaded guilty and granted a fine of R2 000 by the magistrate.

Speaking to Mpumalanga News, Mansolo said: “I’m not happy about the court judgement. R2 000 is not going to heal us. He almost killed my son, now my child is struggling to use his right hand because of the injuries that he sustained when Mansolo assaulted him. How can a human being do that and leave my child traumatized as he is having nightmares.

“I want to take this matter further. Justice must be done to my child,” she said.

Mansolo is not the only person who’s not happy about the ruling. Some parents from that village, who attended the case, were also disappointed and they are threatening to deal with Manyisa in their own way, which they believe that will be a lesson to others as they believe that justice failed them.

One of the residents was quoted saying: “We want our children to be safe and feel free every time. What the man did was totally wrong and now they said he must pay a fine. The man doesn’t deserve to be in society. Assaulting a young boy as if he is not a human being is wrong. Well, we will deal with him sooner or later “Amaphoyisa atomtfola sesimlungisile “because now he keeps on apologising and it’s not helping at all.”

Manyisa pleaded guilty after he was accused of brutally assaulting the boy whom he tied up with a wire and assaulted him. It’s alleged that he went further and kicked the boy in his private parts, which affected the boy very badly as it is reported that there is blood in his urine and he struggles to walk properly, but that was not even revealed during the hearing in court which left many residents who supported the mother of the victim, with unanswered questions. When Manyisa admitted his wrong doings, he never mentioned that issue, but said he assaulted the child because he didn’t want to report the matter in court.

“I know what I did is against the law and I apologise. I decided to assault him because I didn’t want to open a case at the police station. I was scared that the child would be arrested. I was angry because it was not the first time the boy stole my items,” said Manyisa in court.
