A winner is ploughing back to the community

Young people are gaining skills in the field of agriculture through the assistance one of the best in the fratenity.

WHITE RIVER – Agriculture is the backbone of the province which can also play a
significant role in eradicating poverty and creating job opportunities.

Thandi Mokoena, who made history in this field after she was announced as the
overall winner in the provincial Female Entrepreneur of the Year awards and went
further and put Mpumalanga on the map after she was announced as a winner in the
category of Top Entrepreneur: Commercial during the national competition that
was held last month at St George’s Hotel in Irene near Pretoria is ploughing
back to communities.
”I believe that knowledge is power. Like I said after I
won in the national level that I’m willing to help others who have interest in
agriculture. I’m already fulfilling my promises. I’m happy that young people are
showing interest in this field, giving them the skills will make a huge
difference because they will be able to start their own projects and create jobs
for others who are unemployed in the communities.
“I went out to get sponsors
for the people and they are trained by Buhle Farmer’s Academy,“ explained
Mokoena.
She added that she is not only giving them the skills, but those
people who will show dedication and hard work, will join the Matsino Enterprise
project. ”This is not just a training of getting a certificate and then that’s
the end. I believe that it’s part of creating job opportunities as we know that
unemployment is still a problem. So I’m trying to assist, “ she
said.
Mpumalanga News learnt that the learners obtained an NQF level 1
certificate accredited by SETA. The people are trained in different fields such
as vegetable production, planting, land preparation, fertilizer and irrigation.
