Zibulo operation donates six interactive SMART boards

Anglo American’s (AA) Thermal Coal business recently demonstrated its commitment to furthering educational access for learners in need when its Zibulo operation donated six interactive SMART boards.
According to the company the boards have as a result equipped the home economics class, improved security and replaced the electrical infrastructure for Mabande Comprehensive High School.
This is after the the school which is situated in Phola outside Ogies, had been adopted by the mine.
In a statement issued by the AA, a full needs-analysis was conducted to determine key strategic items that will improve and create the best possible learning environment for its 1150 learners.
SMART boards are interactive whiteboards that use touch detection for user input such as scrolling and right mouse clicks mimicking the process utilised in normal PC input devices.The school’s acting principal, Mr Daniel Mnguni said that Zibulo’s support is proving critical in enhancing educational platforms for numerous learners.
“We are delighted with the introduction of SMART boards to the school, as technology-based educational solutions have proved their worth around the world by appealing to learners and improving attendance.”
He added that donation enabled the learners to be more engaged with teachers.
“With technology added to the mix, learners are also able to gain a better understanding of the subject matter.”
