TONGA – Police in the province are looking for suspect(s) responsible for the gruesome murder of a constable, that took place over the weekend at Langeloop
The constable was asleep with his nephew and mother in the house when the suspect(s) gained entry through the window of his room. The suspect(s) shot him in the back and fled without taking anything from the house. He managed to alert his mother and nephew but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
The provincial commissioner, Lt Gen Thulani Ntobela has expressed his shock about the incident and has assured the community that the police would not be derailed by these cowards who take away the lives of people who are protecting us.
“The police work day and night to ensure that we are all safe in our houses and we cannot allow anyone to prevent us from fighting crime. We will leave no stone unturned until the suspect(s) have been arrested. I also send the message of condolences to his family and want to tell them that we are with them in this difficult time,” Gen Ntobela said.
Seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder.
A case of murder and house robbery has been opened and the police are continuing with the investigation.
