Mbombela mayor appeals for much-needed assistance

Mbombela mayor urges local business people and the public at large, to look and care for one another in order to build better communities.

MBOMBELA- Following her door-to-door campaign, Cllr Cathy Dlamini, the executive mayor of Mbombela has appealed for assistance in aiding the plight of the needy.

She said in as much as it is government’s responsibility to improve the lives of the ordinary citizens, the communities have an equal role to play and meet government halfway in speeding up the service-delivery vehicle.

Of the families she visited, two houses were so dilapidated and were in no way fit for a human being to live in.

What was even more interesting was the fact that one of those homes belongs to an active ANC member who during the day, helped mobilise the community to be part of the mayoral imbizo.

“I am a staunch ANC member and I don’t have a decent house. I want to assure you that I am not angry or disgruntled because I have seen what this government led by this party has done. I know that my turn and others’ will come and while I am waiting, I will continue to remain a loyal ANC member,” he said.

Dlamini invited local business people and the public at large, to look and care for one another in order to build better communities.

“I am very proud to say that this government has built more homes,

provided clean running water to over a thousand households, installed electricity and created decent employment especially for the youth.

“Today is much better than yesterday and with the help of our local businesses and communities we will achieve even more results. It is my wish that as we approach the festive season, we also remember those that have nothing to eat and no shelter.

“I would like to encourage the youth, especially the born-frees to register with the IEC so that they are eligible to vote next year, because that is their democratic right,” she said.
