Three suspects arrested during operation Bopha

WHITE RIVER – White River Police have arrested three suspects in the early hours of Friday, January 24 during operation Bopha.

According to communications officer,WO Gugu Phire,two of the suspects, Beauty Mlimi (42) and her 17- year old son were arrested and charged for contempt of court as they failed to honour a court date for which her son, was meant to appear for house robbery, which he committed in 2013.

Phiri said that the third suspect, a 27 year old male , handed himself over upon hearing that police were looking for him.

He had evaded the men in blue since last year, and he was being sought after for two charges of housebreaking, crimes he committed in 2009 and 2013 in White River.

He will appear in court on Wednesday.

In a separate incident two suspects aged 23 and 24 were nabbed by White River police, the police swiftly responded to a complaint of housebreaking in Haasbroek, White River.

Upon arrival, while the men in blue were gathering information, they recalled seeing two men who had similar goods to the ones the home owner had identified as missing.

“They drove back to the spot and nabbed the suspects who were in possession if the stolen items.

The suspects were charged with housebreaking, possession of stolen property and possession of dagga. They will appear at the White River Magistrate court on Wednesday,” added Phiri.
