Hard work rewarded

Best achieving schools, learners and teachers at Ehlanzeni District were awarded with trophies, laptops and certificates as token of appreciation for their good work.

NELSPRUIT – Trophies, certificates and laptops were presented to Hoërskool Nelspruit for their outstanding 2013 matric results.

Teachers were awarded a total of 19 certificates and trophies for being the best educators in the district during the Ehlanzeni District Achievers Awards held at the old KaNgwane Circuit at Lomshiyo Village.

Most of the educators who received awards produced a
100 per cent pass rate in their various subjects.

Hoërskool Nelspruit received awards in accounting, Afrikaans home language, English first additional language and physical science for three consecutive years. They also received awards in mathematics, life science, and business studies. Last year all 230 matrics passed with flying colours.

The ecstatic deputy principal, Mr FW van der Merwe, attributes the success to hard work, good educators, committed learners, well-defined systems of learning including scheduled tests and a well worked-out timetable.

The school shared its achievement of receiving higher marks in English first additional language with Mjokwane Secondary, while Beacon College achieved higher marks in English home language. Khutsalani Secondary scooped the prize for siSwati home language while Sitintile Secondary School was awarded for overwhelming marks in history and agricultural science.

Matthews Phosa College on the other hand maintained being the best school in economics, a prize which they had scooped for the past three years.
They also received a prize in geography, while Cefups Academy scooped the prize in consumer studies. Mahushe Secondary maintained being the cream of them all in agricultural management
Best performing learners were also awarded with trophies, certificates and laptops. Sponsors for the prizes included TSB, Malalane SUPERSPAR, Sivutsa Lodge, Barberton Mines, MTN, Sanlam, Makro Nelspruit and Hoërskool Neslpruit.
