Youth league takes swipe at opposition

The ANCYL head in the province added that the Christian Democratic Party's leader was a confused person, saying that he should know better and that supporting the ANC was like choosing to walk side by side with Jesus.

HAZYVIEW – Following the recent attacks on the National Union of Mine Workers South Africa (Numsa), the ANC youth wing has taken a swipe at the Christian Democratic Party leader, Mr Theunis Botha, and labelled him a joke after he commented that the ANC must stop using God’s name in vain, by claiming they would rule the country until the second coming of the son of God, Jesus Christ.

Speaking during a youth league’s organised elections campaign in Masoyi on Saturday, the league’s chairperson, Mr Desmond Moela said Botha was a confused person, saying that he should know better and that supporting the ANC was like choosing to walk side by side with Jesus.

“Botha calls himself a Christian and yet he talks as if he is confused and crazy. I have never seen such a Christian in my entire life because I was taught they were disciplined comrades.

It is not a secret that walking with the party is like walking with God himself. The ANC was established by God and used holy men in the forefront of this historic and gigantic movement. So we cannot separate God from the ANC,” he said.

“We want to stress that this party will lead until the end of time and we shouldn’t be apologetic about this. If you love the ANC and its leaders, it is like walking with God,” stressed Moela.

He once again stressed the youth league’s stance on the provincial leadership in that they have only submitted Mr David Mabuza’s name as their preferred premier candidate. “As young people, we want to make it known that we support Mabuza to lead this province and we are positive that he will do a good job just like he has been doing.

“We know there are people within the ANC who are giving the youth money and alcohol to cause mayhem to make this province ungovernable, but we would like to warn them that we will unmask them. Let them burn the province for now, because DD Mabuza is going to govern here,” said Moela.
